If you subscribe to the prooven principle that there are no decisions without tradeoffs, then it would be a natural conclusion that in digital deciions you would need to incorporate tradeoffs explicitly.
Why hasn't it be done?
Simply because computers traditionally were good at handling elements that are black and white as a reflection of their foundation that iare bites that can be either 1 or 0.
While Tradeoffs are more fuzzy and "fluffy".
They are even sometimes difficult to grasp.
